Why does every nds download of chrono trigger freeze the first time i go through the time portal?

i use an r4 and i've used 4 different websites dowloads and the same thing happens right before i get to 600 ad mystic mts.

    It's probably because the ROM you have is an earlier ROM with all the early glitches.
