Before we go an further, lets take a moment to review what we have learned so far about this amazing subject. The strip tends to contain short story lines and the action usually keeps the protagonists in character. Jon Arbuckle is shown as a geek who has difficulty getting dates. Odie is not the smartest dog in the world, a fact that Garfield takes advantage of when he makes fun of him. Garfield has an inner fantasy world and is portrayed in several altar egos. These include The Caped Avenger, Amoeba Man, Banana Man, The Chicken Man, and Karate Cat. The range of merchandise is big business for the Garfield comic strip franchise and includes stuffed toys and figurines. Nintendo Wii sales plummeting – Yahoo! News

Everyone loves that Nintendo Wii, don’t they? Why, just this weekend I went to a housewarming party, and sure enough, Wii Sports was up and running for the kids to play with. You can’t get away from it. Wii is everywhere.

And perhaps that is why no one is buying any more Wii consoles. Nintendo is now in a bit of a pickle, as its Buddha-belly-sized coffers are shrinking, thanks to rapidly decreasing interest in the Wii.

According to Bloomberg Businessweek, for the second year running, Wii sales have fallen, and the company is now missing sales forecasts. Nintendo’s net income is declining, too, estimated to fall 13 percent this year, on top of an 18 percent drop last year.

Why the disinterest? Aside from the obvious issue that these consoles have already saturated the market, the Wii continues to suffer from a lack of good games. The only really hot titles are still those produced by Nintendo itself — mainly continuations of the Mario and Zelda saga — and there’s really only so much milk that can be squeezed from that teat.

With Wii-mania fading, the company is now focusing on its upcoming 3-D DS handheld console, which was announced earlier this year and has a targeted release date in early 2011. Nintendo launched the original DS in 2004 and has tweaked it bit by bit ever since, but it hasn’t seen a major upgrade since the start, and the no-glasses 3-D capabilities of the new handheld could be a compelling sell.

Unfortunately, Nintendo, once the leader — by far — in a two-horse mobile-gaming race alongside Sony, now has every cell phone to deal with as competition, as players have turned to iPhones and Droids to game their way through flight delays and post-office lines. And now there’s the iPad to contend with as well: It’s not just a Web browser and e-book reader; it also makes a pretty good gaming device with a giant screen.

So while its work is cut out for it in the portable space, what does Nintendo do with the home-game-console market? The Wii isn’t dead, but it’s already looking like it needs an upgrade, and a big one. Something to attract serious gamers, developers, and even more of that casual market. What about 3-D? Why not extend what’s going on with the handheld into the world of the television … or is that just not possible?

A Nintendo Dsi Review – Is The Newest Upgrade Worth The Purchase?

Since the start of 2009, search engines were flooded with requests looking for Nintendo DSi reviews. This indicates that many people are on the fence with regards to purchasing Nintendo’s newest handheld. There are a number of pressing reasons for this need for Nintendo DSi review.

- Many people are worried that the DSi is just a marginal upgrade over the last 2 incarnations, the DS and the DS Lite.

However, a DSi review will also be incomplete without mentioning the drawbacks of a DSi unit. These are:

- Lack of physical backwards compatibility with Gameboy and Gameboy Advance games because of the exclusion of the GBA slot.
- Peripherals that are attached via the aforementioned GBA slot – such as the guitar pad for Guitar Hero Mobile and the DS Rumble Pack – are rendered obsolete.
- Battery life, though optimized, wasn’t extended by that much.
- The DSi is still, in essence, the same as the very first Nintendo DS that was released.

The conclusion for this Nintendo DSi review? In a nutshell, the following rules should be observed:

The annual E3 gaming conference in Los Angeles is just around the corner, and Nintendo has already announced a new handheld console that might be a showstopper: the DS 3DS, a redesigned version of the wildly popular Nintendo DS that’s set to arrive with a 3D display. Meanwhile, Sony’s big announcement from last year’s E3 show — the PSP Go — went over like a lead balloon.

Recently, however, rumors have been circulating of yet another new version of the PlayStation Portable, especially following sightings of the term “PSP 2″ popping up on a series of online resumes, according to MTV Multiplayer.

Pretty thin evidence, indeed, as MTV Multiplayer points out, especially given that the PSP Go arrived in stores only last October. It’s also safe to say that Sony’s PlayStation division will already have its hands full this year with the upcoming fall release of PlayStation Move, Sony new motion controller for the PS3. That said, the PSP 2 rumors — sketchy though they are — won’t go away, and they also speak to the sad fact that the PSP Go, sleek and eye-catching though it is, has turned out to be a big disappointment for Sony and gamers (or many of them, at least) alike.

Sales for the Go have been sluggish thanks in part to the Go’s hefty $249 retail price (versus just $169 for the older, still-available PSP 3000). And while the Go is blessed with a gorgeous 3.8-inch display, its one major innovation — dumping the original UMD optical drive in favor of flash storage — has been marred by the fact that there’s no way to transfer your old UMD games to the Go’s onboard memory. Also, one of the main design flaws on the original PSP — the fact that there’s only one analog stick rather than two — went uncorrected on the Go. Making matters worse, the pace of new titles for the PSP “has slowed to a trickle,” as Game Stooge puts it.

Game Stooge suggests that it’s time for a serious PSP reboot, with “a new form factor, new hardware, dual analog sticks, the works.” I’m in total agreement. I think Sony needs to start completely fresh, like Microsoft did with Windows Phone 7 — and by starting fresh, I mean an all-new, next-generation PSP platform, complete with a higher-resolution display, cutting-edge graphics, and a revamped control scheme, including a second analog stick. (Sony might be tempted to go the iPad way and ditch physical controls for an all-touch-screen approach, but hopefully cooler heads will prevail; just try playing a first-person shooter like “N.O.V.A.” on the iPhone/iPad and you’ll see what I mean.)

Will we see a PSP 2 at E3 in June? Personally, I’m not getting my hopes up, but I certainly hope someone over at Sony is already hard at work designing a true, next-generation PSP. I’d buy one, believe me.

I've only just begun to use the NO$GBA system and I've never had an emulator before. I've already figured out how to play NDS games on it, but the problem is saving. When I save on the one NDS file I have (Pokemon Platinum) and turn the game off or reset it, it starts back all over again on new game. So I was wondering if anyone could help me figure this out. Is it the game or am I supposed to modify the emulator to make it save?

World Championship Poker for the Nintendo DS is one of the better casino style games available. It’s on my list of Nintendo DS top games because of its wide-variety of game selection.

Terrific Poker and Non-Poker Game Selection

The best thing about Nintendo DS World Championship Poker is its variety of games. Many poker players think Texas Hold Em is the only legitimate form of the game. Perhaps people who think that simply watch too much television.

It’s almost impossible to turn the channel without seeing a televised poker game. But if you think Texas Hold Em is the only game in town, then you’re missing all the fun.

The Games

My favorite poker games are Omaha Hi/Lo and 7-Card Stud Hi/Lo. So it was a surprise to learn that the Nintendo DS version of World Championship Poker includes these games. And even better, there are twelve games in all on this one cartridge. The games are:

* Double Flop

* Pineapple

* Omaha

* Omaha Hi/Lo

* 7 Card Stud

* 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo

Playing the Game

The fun starts when you play career mode.

In career mode, you walk around the virtual casino in search of a game. The top screen offers a 3D first-person view of where you are in the casino. At the same time, the bottom screen displays an overhead view of your location.

The casino tables each have a different game. You find a table with the game you want, and then tap the table with your stylus to play.

Some tables have quick games that allow you to win a quick buck and move on, like the video poker game. For more involved play you’d pick a tournament table to compete against computer opponents.

Your Opponents

The computer opponents in this game are 3-D models. You see them while they play, and each has their own name, face, and body.

Your opponents are also animated and make certain movements and sounds each time they play a hand. This is fun at first, but gets annoying and repetitive the longer you play. It also makes each hand longer than necessary. Luckily, you can turn the animations off under the options setting.

Thanks to the wireless networking function, you can play the Nintendo DS version of World Championship Poker with friends. Of course, this only works if your friends are within range, and also have a Nintendo DS and the World Championship Poker game. Once connected, everyone can play most of the games together. The only downside is you’re unable to name your player in wireless mode. So you have to remember which character is yours.

Overall Rating: Five Poker Chips

I recommend this game for anyone who enjoys portable gaming and poker. You can practice your skills without sitting in front of your computer or waiting for a live game.

It’s also a great way to pass time while waiting in line or stuck in a waiting room. So if you’re interested in portable poker gaming, get a copy of World Championship Poker for the Nintendo DS.

Welcome to my latest review of the third Nintendo DSi™ to hit the masses. This time around I’ll be covering the R4i which its predecessor was one of the most sought after Nintendo DS™ flash cards to be produced. The R4i and similar products allow running unsigned code (aka homebrew) on your DSi. There are advantages and disadvantages to running homebrew on your console. Advantages include the ability to play movies, music, read books and view pictures along with running India made software including games and useful applications. The disadvantage is the factNintendo doesn’t “authorize” you to use these devices and by doing so you void your manufacturers warranty. Nintendo likes to control all of the content that is produced for their systems and by using a flash card you bypass this control they have and can run a large amount of free software without having to pay for it. You can also develop your own software without having to pay for the development hardware, software and licensing fees thatNintendo likes to charge.

The R4i can also be used to play “backups” of games you own. Due to no real way to determine if you’re using a backup of a game you own or not the R4i has been labeled a “piracy” device as many people abuse the device and download and play illegal copies of games they don’t own. Note that ISO-420 does not condone “piracy” as the R4i should be used for entertainment, homebrew, development and backup purposes only. You and only you are responsible for what you do with a flash card. Be smart, obey the law and backup only the games you own for safe keeping and preservation purposes (where allowed via law).

R4i Software For R4 Cartridge

R4 cartridge or R4 DS or other varieties such as R4 Revolution are the devices for the Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS LITE and DSI version that allow one to play games, listen to music, read books as well as explore world of other possibilities. It has the same size as that of a regular Nintendo DS cartridge. It also has a slot at the back for insertion of a micro SD card so as to allow storing music, movies and other applications such as firmware and other games according to your choice.

When one inserts a new Micro SD card into the R4 cartridge then on booting the machine one gets a menu so as to choose between games or multimedia that is stored in the SD card. After this one can also proceed to play homebrew games or other backup games or even listen to music or watch movies, all in the same Nintendo. All this is possible just by changing the card.
Below is a brief history about the R4 cards.

The R4 cartridge was originally manufactured by the R4 Card team, who produced the first ever Nintendo DS R4 card in 2007. It also had a small slot at the top so as to push a Micro SD card inside. It came with a spring mechanism that would push the card into the slot, while the second push would bring out the card from its place. But this genre of R4 cards or cartridges with the spring mechanism was found to be faulty to the extent of 5%. The spring problem made the card to get damaged.

I still remember the first Game Boy, with the gray color and yellow screen with the famous game “Tetris”.  But now the Game Boy has also evolved during the years; after the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, then Game Boy Advance, then GameBoy SP and finally Nintendo Dual Screen (DS).

At first the DS didn’t catch my attention, because of the dual screen, it was something I really didn’t like. Just two months ago I decided to buy one for my wife, so I went I bought one. I started playing some games and before I knew it I was hooked to the DS, that dual screen that I hated, I was starting to love it. One of the best thing it has, is the great amount of games they have available and they keep coming up like crazy. Go to a store and you see most of shelves with Nintendo DS games.  As you can see the Nintendo DS is very popular in the handheld and gaming industries, especially very popular among the kids.

Nintendo’s DS systems is one the most successful handheld gaming systems in history. Unfortunately all you can do with it is play games. Well that’s what you bought it for isn’t it? But wouldn’t it be great if you could use your DS like a portable media centre? Wouldn’t it be good to listen to your mp3s, watch videos and see your holiday photos on it?

The R4DS works as an adaptor for your DS to transfer data with a flash SD card, the type you might use in a digital camera or mobile phone. First you need to put your applications and files on your SD card from your computer. Following that, simply plug the R4DS into your Nintendo DS, then your SD card into the R4DS. Then you can use whatever files and applications are stored on the SD card in your DS (honestly, I’m not trying confuse you with all these “SD”s and “DS”s.

The applications can be downloaded from the Internet from specialist websites. The types of application you can expect range from music players, image viewers and calculators to card games and homemade platform games.

On top of this, using the R4DS, you can back-up all your current DS games onto an SD card. This is a Godsend if you have messy children that don’t put their games away and a 3 month old puppy eager to tear apart anything it can get its teeth on. Not only that, you can easily back-up all your games onto a single SD card. That means you don’t need to lug your entire games collection around with you. In fact you never need to unplug the R4DS as it can store all your games in it. That means no more hunting around for lost DS cartridges. It makes the Nintendo DS an all-in-one portable gaming and media station, for less than the price of a single game.

However, all is not well in R4DS-land. There is a fairly significant threat that could harm the video gaming industry and it’s consumers on two fronts. That is piracy.

The R4DS is not illegal (you can buy them from Amazon), but Nintendo wish it was. Video game pirates use the R4DS to play games they do not own legally. Owners of the R4DS are urged not to take advantage of this and Nintendo are fighting to stop the sale of the product. The long-term effects of piracy are a weaker gaming industry and therefore fewer games and games of a lower quality.

Ironically, the threat of piracy also threatens the R4DS itself. There are many online stores selling imitations of the R4 Revolution. There are plenty of Internet forum reports of people plugging in their brand new R4DS only to find they can never turn their DS on again. But after closer inspection, they realise it not a true R4DS but a very similar clone.

It looks like the R4DS will give a large proportion of Nintendo DS owners a new and exciting way to utilise their portable gaming console. It also looks like Nintendo have quite a battle to stop the sale of the R4DS which will undoubtedly lead to in an increase in piracy. The fairest situation it seems would be for Nintendo to close down the pirate websites and allow the ethical use of the R4DS to continue.

I enjoy watching Hell’s Kitchen. I also enjoy cooking games like Cooking Mama. So I figured this game would be a good combination of the two. The game is good as a time management game like Cake Mania. But it’s not a true cooking game like the other Nintendo DS top games Cooking Mama and Cooking Mama 2.

Not Exactly Like the Show

In this game, you are the owner of your own restaurant. But you also have to greet customers, seat them, take their orders, prepare the food, serve the food, and then accept payment.

This is more of a management game than a cooking game. The actual cooking is limited to clicking on ingredients and timing them to finish cooking at the same time. You never prepare anything. That’s nothing like most cooking games in which you have to actually boil, cut, chop, mix, and fry the food.

Listening to Chef Ramsay’s comments also get annoying after awhile. It’s funny at first because he curses and it gets censored just like on the show. But it gets old quick because he says the same things over and over.

Some Cool Things

The most fun thing about this game is seeing how far you can get. And if you’re like me, you won’t find this game easy to beat.

The game gets harder as you go along. In the beginning you have easy recipes and few customers. But as the number of customers increase, the recipes get more demanding.

Managing the restaurant isn’t easy. You have a lot of responsibility, and you must excel in everything. Mad customers are no good. If they get mad enough to leave, then you’re in big trouble. Chef Ramsay will get furious and close your restaurant if you make a mess of things.

One unique thing about this game is the recipe book. The game has real recipes created by Chef Ramsay. So if you like to cook, you can copy the recipes and cook them at home.

Final Rating

If you like the show, you might get a kick out of this game. But if you’re looking for a cooking game that gives you more control over preparing the food, this isn’t for you. Like I said, this game is more like Diner Dash or Cake Mania instead of a real cooking game like Cooking Mama. Also, this one is intended for adults and teens.
